The school based health centers are a joint effort of Family Centers, the Health Department and the Stamford public schools to provide on-site confidential physical and mental health services to students. It is our mission to help students learn about practices that promote their health and well-being.
All students at Rippowam and Academy of Information Technology & Engineering, (AITE), are welcome to use the health center but we can only give services to students whose parent(s) complete and sign the permission form in the packet. Also, since the health centers are funded by the State of Connecticut, the United Way and the Stamford public schools, we are required to bill the student's insurance company for services provided - which is why we need a copy of the students insurance card. Students without any insurance coverage will not be charged and services will be covered by existing grants. There is no co-pay fee and the health center will not seek payment from the parent(s) if the claim submitted to an insurance company is denied.
Students need an appointment to come to the health center - they are not allowed to leave their classroom without an appointment pass. They can make appointments through the school nurse (Mrs. Pat Caldwell) or stop by during their lunch time.
